In Mizhhirya, a man beat his friend to death because of jealousy. The police began an investigation into the infliction of grave bodily injuries with fatal consequences. The suspect was detained.
Yesterday, on October 14, Mizhhirya Police Department received from the district hospital a report that an unconscious person had been delivered to the hospital and died there.
The victim was a 44-year-old resident of Mizhhirya. Numerous bodily injuries were found on his body, indicating the violent death. Soon, the police established the circumstances of the man’s death.
Police officers detained a 56-year-old resident of Mizhhirya suspected of infliction of bodily injuries that caused the death of a person.
According to preliminary information, the crime occurred on the grounds of jealousy and abuse of alcoholic beverages. The man returned from work and found his drunken partner and a neighbor who were sleeping in different rooms. Getting jelousy of the quest, the man began to inflict him bodily injuries. At first, he was punching him, and then struck him numerous times with a wooden ax handle. The victim died at the hospital from the injuries sustained.
The police initiated a criminal proceeding into the incident under Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Intentional grave bodily injuries that caused the victim’s death). The suspect in the crime was arrested in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. The man faces a prison sentence of 7 to 10 years.
