In Hungary, 20 customs officers were detained for involvement in smuggling from Ukraine

Hungarian anti-terrorist special unit TEK detained nearly whole shift of customs officers and border police officers at the checkpoint "Záhony-Chop" on suspicion of smuggling.

This was informed by the publication Mukachevo.Net.

Because of that, border crossing at the checkpoint "Záhony-Chop" was limited for 6 hours.

The investigation department of the General Prosecutor of Hungary confirmed the information about investigative measures taking place at the border, but promised to announce more details on Tuesday.

According to preliminary information, searches and detentions of Hungarian customs officers are conducted today in different places, at different checkpoint.

Allegedly, the proceedings against 20 people suspected of various crimes and abuses, mostly corruption, have already been initiated. Besides the Hungarian anti-terrorist unit TEK, the investigators of the prosecution office in Nyiregyhaza and police units were engaged in the operation.
Currently, traffic through the checkpoint "Tisa" toward Hungary has been resumed.

Recall that in late July this year, 18 Hungarian customs officers were arrested for promoting smuggling from Transcarpathia.
