The Ambassador of Ukraine to Hungary, Liubov Nepop, is being summoned to the Hungarian Foreign Ministry in connection with the second in this month arson of the Society of Hungarians in Uzhgorod.
This is stated in the report on the site of Hungarian Government.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that he had discussed the incident with one of the leaders of the Hungarians of Transcarpathia, Laszlo Brenzovich. He also called for a conversation at the Foreign Ministry the Ukrainian ambassador in Budapest, Liubov Nepop.
According to Szijjarto, the process of the "rise of extremist ideas" is taking place in Ukraine.
Szijjarto emphasized that if Ukraine is serious about its intentions to join the EU and NATO, it "must be able to control extremists."
The Hungarian minister also said that he would meet with the OSCE High Commissioner for Human Rights on Tuesday. Szijjarto once again said that the OSCE monitoring mission should work not only in the East of Ukraine, but also in Transcarpathia.
As you know, in Uzhgorod, on Tuesday night, there was a fire in the building of the regional office of the KMKSZ.
About 25 square meters of the premises burned down, and the fire was preceded by the explosion near the building of the KMKSZ. Probably, it was again a Molotov’s cocktail thrown into the window. No one was hurt.
Recall this is the second attempt to set fire to the KMKSZ office in Uzhgorod
Later, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal stated that an attempt had been committed by two Polish citizens, members of the right-wing radical organization "Phalanga".
Regarding this incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine issued the statement, in particular:
"Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in connection with the arson of the premises of the Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly condemns the burning down of the premises of the Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathia.
Law enforcement agencies have already begun the investigation and will take all necessary measures to expedite the disclosure of this crime.
The earlier act of vandalism against the same premises was promptly solved by law enforcement officers. The investigation proved that the attack was committed by members of one of the Eastern European radical organizations supported by the Russian aggressor.
We strongly condemn the use of the topic of national minorities as a means to incite inter-ethnical animosity from the outside.
Ukraine will continue to strongly oppose all attempts to disrupt the domestic political situation in the country, including those using interethnic relations."
