January 26, in support of the Ukrainian people in their struggle against dictatorship, for the rights and dignity of people, there was a mass demonstration of Hungarian Ukrainians in the center of Budapest – the website of the State Government of Ukrainians in Hungary reported (via Mukachevo.net)
The rally of solidarity with the Ukrainian people was attended by Ukrainians in Hungary, Hungarians, especially the youth, and Ukrainian students studying in Budapest. Representatives of other nationalities – Armenians, Poles, Russians, Irish and others – came to show their solidarity with Ukrainians. The participants were holding Hungarian and Ukrainian flags with black ribbons and banners reading "I am a Ukrainian, I can not remain silent", "Ukrainian nation, we are with you", "Release political prisoners!".
The protesters also called on European organization, "Stop watching, start acting!".
At the beginning of the meeting, they sang Hungarian and Ukrainian anthems, then they read out the appeal of the writer Yuriy Andrukhovych to the international community. The Head of the State Government of Ukrainians in Hungary and the European Congress of Ukrainians Yaroslava Khortyani also spoke at the meeting.
