In Beregovo district, the police detained a pimp

On Saturday, April 11, in the village of Velyka Byihan, officers of the Department for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, together with the Beregovo district police, under the procedural control of Beregovo prosecutor’s office, conducted operative actions to catch a pimp. In the course of documenting the criminal activity of the 22-year-old resident, law enforcement officers found out that the man had arranged for two underage girls to provide sexual services to a client.
On that day, a 15-year-old resident Vynogradiv and a 16-year-old resident of Mukachevo district were to meet a client. The 22-year-old took all the proceeds for the illegal services provided by the girls. In addition, it was found out that he forced the girls into prostitution by threatening and using violence against them. The 22-year-old’s actions are classified as a crime under Part 3 of Article 303 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, ie prostitution or coercion or involvement of minors in prostitution.
Investigators are currently preparing petitions to court to impose a pre-trial retraint on the detainee.
