A 31-year-old resident of the village of Popovo in Beregovo district stole 60 liters of wine from the basement of his friend. Within one hour, Beregovo police detained the suspect.
Yesterday, March 21, the police received a report about a theft in the village of Zapson in Beregovo district. The victim – a 45-year-old man – said that someone had damaged the lock on the front door to the basement of his house and stolen about 60 liters of home-made wine.
Officers of the Department of Criminal Police, along with investigators and patrol police group solved the crime within one hour. The police found that the theft had been committed by a previously convicted 30-year resident of the village of Popovo. Physical evidence was seized.
Criminal proceeding over the incident was opened under Part 3 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft coupled with breaking and entering causing substantial damage to the victim), which is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to six years.
