Today, the law, which was adopted back on May 14 by almost all present deputies, came into force.
It is a seemingly innocent document titled "Amendments to laws regarding the calculation and indexing of pensions."
At the end of the text, after a number of obscure amendments, there are amendments to the law on the collection and accounting of a single fee for obligatory state social insurance, where they added "the aid for pregnancy and childbirth" as another basis for the calculation of this fee (the amount of such aid is four times average salary of a woman who is going to give birth).
The amount of the fee is 33.2% of this base, and this amount shall be paid by the employer.
Thus, women who are going to give birth, will loose more than a third of the money allocated to them in connection with pregnancy and childbirth.
For example, if a female employee officially receives 2,500 UAH per month (for 4 months – 10,000), she can lose about 3,300 UAH.
The initiator of the bill was the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, MPs of all factions supported it, and the President Viktor Yanukovych signed it.
