Illegal immigrant trafficker was handed over to Ukraine from Romania

A native of Chernivtsi region – the organizer of the illegal trafficking of persons across the state border, who was hiding abroad – has been extradited to Ukraine and brought to the investigative department of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region.

It was proved that the organizer together with three accomplices – Vynogradiv district residents, in April-May 2013 illegally transported 15 illegal immigrants across the Ukrainian-Hungarian state border.

  

In May 2013, on the highway Khust-Vynogradiv, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained two cars in which two offenders were carrying four people from Sri Lanka and one Syrian. The detectives immediately identified one of their accomplice and the organizer of illegal trafficking channel.

Three members of the criminal gang were notified of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 332 (illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

In order to avoid criminal liability, the offenders, after giving the bail appointed by the court, illegally crossed the Ukrainian border. All participants in the illegal activities, including the organizer, were put on the international wanted list.

In January this year the location of the organizer of the illegal trafficking was established, border police arrested him while he was trying to cross the Romanian-Moldovan border. In June this year, he was extradited to Ukraine and notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Art.332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Currently, his accomplices have been detained in the Czech Republic and are waiting for extradition to Ukraine.
