– On 15 May, the European market fully opened for Ukrainian exporters. In particular, almost 98% of duties on goods being exported to the European Union were cancelled. This decision will be valid until November 1, 2014, – Igor Strichyk, the Acting Head of the Chop customs said.
According to him, today in Ukraine there are many companies, not only large but also medium, that are ready to sell their products on the European market. Some of our Transcarpathian companies already have a history of cooperation with the European market.
During April 2014, 675 economic operators took active part in foreign trade activities.
In April alone, nearly 355.5 thousand vehicles, and nearly 2 million tons of cargo croosed the customs border in Transcarpathia – the statistics of the Chop Customs shows.
– Analyzing the activity of foreign economic operators in April, we hope that already this month, the statistics will have a positive trend, because, I repeat – in May, the autonomous trade preferences aimed at the reduction or elimination of the EU customs duties on goods originating in Ukraine entered into force. Thanks to the introduction of quotas in bilateral trade between the EU and Ukraine, Ukrainian producers have the opportunity to deliver certain quantities of such goods without paying import duties. In other words, only the products that exceed the set quantities will be subject to the general rules of import. They will be taxed on the same terms that are in effect in Ukraine today – the acting head of the customs office said.
