If you want to carry your pet across the border, get a new passport for them

Starting from July 1, owners of cats and dogs, who want to take their pets abroad, will have to obtain a standardized veterinary sanitary passport.

Until now, any, even private, veterinary clinics could have issued such documents.

Starting from July 1, only the documents issued by the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, as well as state veterinary institutions, that are subordinate to it, will be considered valid. Such passport will be valid for the animal’s lifetime and will cost 50.29 UAH.

The document will include information on the animal treatment against parasites, vaccinations against rabies and other infectious diseases, the presence and location of the chip, as well as information about the owner.

At present, the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection is withdrawing animal documents that do not correspond to the new unified state standard.
