If there were only 100 people in Transcarpathia

The population of Transcarpathian region, according to the latest data, is just 1,256 million people. We’re almost like Kyiv or Odesa, only a little bit more scattered and we have mountains. And we have many villages. So no wonder that even Uzhgorod – the smallest of all the regional centers (125,000 people) – is often jokingly called a big village by its residents.

But what if we scale down the population of Transcarpathia to 100 people? 

AGE AND GENDER

48 of 100 people would be men and 52 would be women.

23 would be under 18 years old. And 77 people, respectively, would be adults. One child would be an orphan, and the rest would have parents.

GEOGRAPHY

37 people would live in cities and 63 – in villages.

RELIGION

66 people would be Orthodox, 18 – Greek Catholics, 7 – Roman Catholics. 3 – just Christians, 1 – protestant, 2 – representatives of other religions, and 3 atheists.

NATIONALITY AND LANGUAGE

80 Ukrainians, 12 Hungarians, 2 Romanians, 2 Russians, 1 Roma, 1 Slovak, 1 German and 1 person with other nationality.

81 people speak Ukrainian, 13 – Hungarian, 3 – Russian, 2 – Romanian and 1 – other language.

EMPLOYMENT

58 people are not employed officially or at all. 10 are engaged in agriculture and fisheries, 8 – in trade, 5 – in industry, 4 – in education, 2 – in public administration and defense, 2 – in transportation and warehousing, 2 – in public health, 2 – in construction, 1 – in catering, art, real estate, science each, and 3 – in other professions.

23 people are retirees, and 77 are not.

APPLIANCES AND VEHICLES

96 of 100 people would have TV sets, 38 – PCs, 97 – fridges, 29 – cars, 92 – mobile phonea, 62 – bikes, 21 – cameras.

40 people would have Internet access, and 60 would not.

INCOME

7 people would make 840,1-1200 UAH, 24 people – 1200,1-1560 UAH, 29 people – 1560,1-1920 UAH, 13 people – 1920,1-2280 UAH, 8 people – 2280,1-2640 UAH, 7 people – 2640,1-3000 UAH, 5 people – 3000,1-3360 UAH, 2 people – 3360,1-3720 UAH, 5 people – more than 3720 UAH.

Only one of 100 people would be a repeat offender.
