Today uzhgorod.in reported that our colleague journalist Kostyantyn Cherkay, at the time when others are painting eggs and cutting salads, decided to fix up a street … hydrant. Several Uzhgorod journalists in Facebook expressed their willingness to renovate old Czech hydrants, that is to clean and paint them.
Old Czech red hydrant are considered one of the "highlights" of the city and by the way, some of them are still quite workable so journalists decided to give them a decent look.
As it turned out, Kostyantyn Cherkay was alone in this activity today.
"Today from 7:00 to 12:30 we were painting hydrants – the initiator of the campaign Vitaliy Hlahola wrote in his profile on Facebook. – In 5 hours we fixed up 37 hydrants. Too bad that most of them are by 2/3 in asphalt and earth (all through the raising of road level). Hydrants of the year 1930 may become highlights of Uzhgorod like hydrants in New York – we can not leave them neglected. This year their service life expires, but they still serve. Thanks to everyone who came".
