The festival "Hutsul Betlehems" took place in the village of Kosivska Polyana in Rakhiv district.
The festival started (and finished) with church carols.
There were about 10 participating teams.
And what colorful costumes betlehems had – decorated old coats, iron bells on jackets, wool cloaks. And no wonder, because Hutsul betlehems are known for their originality and uniqeness. Therefore, a considerable number of people from around the district gathered in the central square of the village. What pleases is that betlehems were mostly young people. This means that traditions are passed from generation to generation.
At the festival, participants competed in several categories. The winners received cash prizes. As for caroling, Hutsuls have unique melodies. There, you could hear Christmas carols that are not sung, for example, in low-lying areas of Transcarpathia. Hutsul caroling is special.
As for Christmas dishes on festival, there was hot kutia and wine.
Guest from Rakhiv Oksana Turok told us: "It’s an incredible expirience. Very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. People did not want to leave. And the feeling when they sang carols all together, words can not describe it."
