From now on, Transcarpathian Hungarians have the opportunity to apply for this year’s support from Hungary, which has increased the amount of the financial aim in the form of a social package almost twofold, the Mukachevo.net reported.
The decision was taken by the Government of Hungary in autumn 2018. The amount of the aid exceeds 2.5 billion forints.
In 2015, the Hungarian government decided to introduce a social package for the Hungarians of Transcarpathia. Under the program, the Ministry of National Affairs of Hungary provides annual one-off assistance for teachers of kindergartens, where instruction is in Hungarian language; teachers of art and music schools with Hungarian language of instruction; medical workers who speak Hungarian; journalists working in the Hungarian media; culture events organizers, librarians and other persons that contribute to the survival and prosperity of the Hungarian national minority. In addition, they provide support for clergymen who conduct church services and teach in Hungarian.
