Hungarians gave Uzhgorod Children’s Art School a musical from Malaysia

Uzhgorod Children’s Art School, thanks to its talented student, received from Hungary a musical instrument – marimba

It was a long-time dream of the director of Uzhgorod Children School of Arts, Honored Worker of Ukraine Natalia Hromova to buy for students of the school a percussion instrument – marimba. But this quite exotic instrumentl from Malaysia, which is used in various musical styles – from classical to avant-garde music, pop and jazz – is very expensive and they could not afford it.

Yet dreams come true. As reported by the Department of Culture, Sports, Youth and Family of Uzhgorod City Council, recently one of the best students of the school, winner of the Regional Bartok Competition and participant of the competition "Virtuosos of Hungary" – Martin Tkachuk – impressed the honorable jury with his virtuoso playing so much that the competition management decided to give the school, in which Martin studies, a marimba.
The instrument was provided by the Minister of Culture of Hungary. The Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Mr. Jozsef Buhayla assisted in transportation of the marimba to Uzhgorod Children’s Art School. So now, Martin and other students of Uzhgorod art school can learn to play the marimba.
