Hungarian rescuers are clearing the Tisa form ice with icebreakers

The water level in the largest in Transcarpathia river Tisa near Chop has begun to slowly decline. As of 9:30 am Friday (10.02), the flood wave height is 9 meters (yesterday morning, the wave height reached 9.5 meters). Water level in the Latorytsya is also slowly decreasing.

– Downstream the Tisa, in Hungary, the flow is still blocked with a giant ice jam, there is a threat of the river bursting out of its banks, – Hennadiy Moskal said. – To unblock the channel and speed up the flow, Hungarian experts today will use explosives.

And near the city of Tokaj, four icebreakers are clearing the Tisa channel from ice. Transcarpathian water experts are constantly monitoring the situation with the passage of water in the Tisa and the Latorytsya, there is no threat of flooding in Transcarpathia.
