The Director of the Department for foreigners and stateless persons of the SMS of Ukraine Natalia Naumenko and the advisor for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine Oleksandra Makovska came to Transcarpathia with a monitoring visit.
During the visit, they inspected the temporary accommodation centers for refugees in the city of Mukachevo and the town of Mend, talked to their residents. Currently, 62 people live in the center, including 28 children.
In the Main office of the SMS of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region, Natalia Naumenko had a working meeting with the head of the Office Igor Mykhailyshyn. They discussed the issue of combating illegal migration, greater control over foreign citizens staying in the region. In addition, they talked about problematic issues of refugee status determination procedure.
Currently, 60 refugees and 78 persons requiring extra protection are registered with the migration service of Transcarpathia, the press service of the Office informs.
