How to obtain the status of the ATO participant

According to the law, status of combatants shall be granted to soldiers (reservists, persons subject to military service) and civilian employees of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the State Border Service, officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of State Protection Service, the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security, other military forces established under the law, who have defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, who participated in the anti-terrorist operation, as well as employees of enterprises, institutions and organizations involved in the anti-terrorisst operation. To receive the status of the ATO participant, one should contact a military commissariat. The military commissariat shall grant the certificate and benefits for the soldier.

Documents to be submitted:

• Passport
• A certificate of residence
• Medical records
• Military ID (with a note on mobilization or military service). 
• Order the commander of the military unit (certified by the official stamp)

The order must state where and when a person was serving, what tasks he or she was performing and in which capacity.
