How to ensure that you will vote on May 25 (tips from the OPORA)

Take advantage of the tips from the OPORA to be sure that you can vote at the extraordinary presidential election in Ukraine and local elections on May 25, 2014. We recommend you as soon as possible to check whether you are registered to vote, and if not use two simple and effective tips, provided by the law.

TIP 1: Look yourself up in the list of voters:

1. By signing up on the site of the State Register of Voters and sending appropriate request through the electronic system. The answer should come to your mailbox in a few days;

2. By visiting the precinct election commission (PEC) at the place of your registration and personally contacting the PEC members starting from May 9.

TIP 2: If you are not in the list of voters or the data about you are inaccurate or incomplete, you should:

1) Submit an application to the PEC or DRVK

No later than 5 days before the election (by May 19, 2014 inclusive), you must submit an application for inclusion into the register of voters to the presinct election commission (PEC) or to the department for maintaining the register of voters (DRVK) at the place of registration.

The application should be processed within one day.

 2) Lawsuit

If you have not taken the opportunity to apply for inclusion into the register of voters or making corrections to it by submitting an application to a PEC or the department for maintaining the register of voters, no later than 2 days prior to the election day (May 22, 2014, inclusive), you can file a lawsuit to the local general administrative court (Art.173 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences). In this case, the court fee is not paid.
