How journalists played football (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

On the occasion of the Day of Journalist on June 5, at the stadium of Uzhgorod school number seven, eight teams came together to fight for victory in the twelfth football tournament for the Cup of Journalist of Transcarpathia. The tournament was organized by the Regional Committee of Trade Union of Culture with the support of the regional organization of the Union of Journalists of Ukraine, Transcarpathian Association of Sports Journalists, Football Federation of Transcarpathia, the Regional Council and sports society "Dynamo".

For the first time in this competition, the title was won by the team of the Journalism Department (as it was called, "JourFac United"). In addition, the individual award – the title of the best striker – went to the player of our team Jan Rohach.

The team captain Vitaly Zavadyak was excited:
– No one believed in our victory. But we were psychologically and physically prepared to the tournament and knew that we must show good results, as we have for the past two years. We had very strong rivals. Those are the team of "Sport Time" and "Karpaty Igoz Co" which, by the way, was the champion in the past two years, and if they had won this year too the cup would have stayed with them permanently. But everything was fine! We did very well!

Student of the Journalism Department, team player Oleksandr Kurta said: 
– I liked the tournament on the Day of Journalist very much. Since I participated in it for the first time, the impressions were incredible, perhaps it is because of our victory. The organization of the event, invited guests, emotions – everything that involves a real football tournament – was there! The teams, that participated, showed a high level of skills, the judges worked diligently and carefully, fans were not bored. It is nice to participate in such activities. 

The chairman of the organizing committee, the head of the Regional Committee of Trade Union of Culture Natalia Tovtyn said:
– This year the competition was held at a really high level. There were a lot of teams, all were well prepapred … I am glad that such competitions are held in our region. 
Colleagues from the Transcarpathian branch of the Kyiv Slavonic University treated football players with a traditional Transcarpathian dish – bograch.
