How in Transcarpathia, two tons of pork was eaten in one day (+ PHOTOS)

Bograch, sausages and kebabs: the festival for lovers of delicious food took place in Transcarpathia.

The participants of the festival cooked dishes with almost 2 tons of pork.

The international festival of butchers took place in the village of Hecha in Transcarpathia. This is a holiday for meat-eaters. Since meat is the main ingredient of the dishes presented there. Those are bograch, sausages and kebabs.

Mr. Jozsef Daho is a butcher from Hungary with 30 years of experience, although he still does not consider it to be his profession. Now, he is preparing meat for a dozen dishes that will be presented at the festival.

Next the Hungarians, Serbs serve their own specialty dish. Dough-enclosed chop with onions and cheese sauce was to the liking of tourists.

Ede Sarabska, a cook from Serbia, says: "The dish is cooked with three types of meat: lamb, pork and beef, three ingredients are mixed, seasoned with spices, so the mass does not crumble. As you can see, the meat becomes very tasty. This is laid out in homemade cakes lubricated with cottage cheese."

A tourist from Uzhgorod, Serhiy Hudak, shares his impressions: "Very delicious, very unusual, kind of like a hamburger, but it’s a completely different taste, very interesting, unusual".

Svitlana Kuibysheva from Vinnytsia was dreaming of visiting this festival for a long time. Now that the dream has come true, she cautiously asks the chefs for the recipe of the Transcarpathian bograch. But they keep the most important ingredients in secret.

While some participants are making sausages, others actively sell bograch and kebabs. The festival, the organizers says, should attract attention to the butcher’s profession.

Mykola Voronyuk, a tourist from Lviv, says: "I like the atmosphere, I’m a born and bred Ukrainian, we always bred pigs, cut them, ate them, and it’s interesting to see how other people do it. Anyone, who does not like fat, is not a Ukrainian."
