How in Hungary Tisa is cleared from garbage floating from Transcarpathia (PHOTOS)

About 10,000 tonnes of household waste was removed from the Tisa river in Hungary. It is mostly plastic that has been sorted and will be partially recycled. By the way, a lot of it gets into the river in the territory of Ukraine.
This action was carried out for the first time as a tripartite cooperation between public organizations, authorities and companies.
Plastic and other debris have accumulated above the dam in the town of Kiskore. The waste covered an area of 17,000 square meters to a depth of three meters. Water Resources Management Administration staff worked a 12-hour shift to transport collected garbage to a 200-tonne barge.
This is about double the usual amount that comes with spring floods, the PET Kupa informed.
The Kiskore Dam is the first in Hungary to stop rubbish and prevent it from flowing downstream.
For five months, PET Kupa, Water Resources Management Administration and Coca-Cola have been working with volunteers to sort and pack the waste to be recycled.
