Today’s City Council session was devoted primarily to water tariffs. At least, that debate was the most emotional.
The session was preceded by a meeting of citizens disgruntled about rising water tariffs in the city. Then, the deputies under the watchful eyes of the people, who moved from the street to the session hall, voted for appeal to the central government. The key points are to remove the water utility director Yuriy Omelyanenko from his post, to appoint the audit of the company and to return tariffs that were before the rise.
Tariffs for electricity and gas, despite the request of some deputies, were not discussed.
Then, they went on to working decisons. And also, they re-formatted the Executive Committee. They excluded from it Ivan Paida – the one who was arguing the most at the meeting that was considering increase of bus fares and voted against it. The motivation, announced by the Acting Mayor Victor Shchadey, is that the executive committee should include a representative from students elected at the "Student Republic".
Also, the deputies argued a little about land and decided to help the "Lastovichka" kindergarten to return the second building. Since they did not decide everything they had planned, they agreed to meet on Monday.
