Now, you can certify copies of documents and obtain professional advice not only in Uzhgorod, but also in Velyky Berezny. On Friday, November 15, the Honorary Consulate of Slovakia was opened there. The solemn ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign and European Rights Miroslav Lajcak and the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ledyda.
Also the ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in the Slovak Republic Oleg Havashi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic in Ukraine Pavol Hamzhik, the deputy head of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration Mykhailo Popovich, the Consul General of Slovakia in Uzhgorod Janka Burianova, the Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic in Velyky Berezny Oleg Adamchuk.
The Honorary Consulate of Slovakia in Transcarpathia has been operating since 1996. Last year, Oleg Adamchuk was appointed as the Honorary Consul. The Consular District covers Transcarpathian and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
The Slovak-Ukrainian border crossing point "Uhlya-Maly Berezny" is located a few kilometers from Velyky Berezny. So the opening of the consulate will boost the development of small and medium businesses in Velyky Berezny and Perechyn districts. An important factor was also the need to support the Slovak minority, who have long been living in this region.
From now on, at the Honorary Consulate you can certify documents and signatures, receive professional advice on visa issues. But the issuance of visas is not in the competence of the institution – as before, only the Consulate of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod can issue them.
Also in Velyky Berezny, Miroslav Lajcak and Oleksandr Ledyda attended the opening of a commemorative plaque to Milan Rastislav Stefanik, prominent Czechoslovak scientist and diplomat. It was initiated by the "Uzhgorod society of Slovaks", and the money for manufacturing were provided from the grant of the Government of Foreign Slovaks – the press-center of the RSA informed.
