During the festival of Jewish culture "Heymish Ungvar", which is taking place in Uzhgorod, on Sunday, October 9, there will be the opening of the memorial to the victims of the Holocaust.
The memorial sign was installed with the assistance of the Government of Hungary near the Philharmonic. The official opening is at 13:30.
Today, there are several memorials commemorating the Jews in Transcarpathia. In 2004, the memorial to victims of the Holocaust was set in Uzhgorod on the site of a former brick factory, where a ghetto was situated during the war. That same year, plaques were unveiled in the village of Solotvyno in Tyachiv district and the village of Bila Tserkva in Rakhiv district. In 2009, the memorial to the victims of the Holocaust was set in the territory of the Jewish cemetery in Uzhgorod. In April 2016 – in the park of the village of Bilky in Irshava district, in June this year – in the synagogue in the city of Beregovo.
