Holiday is already near! Uzhgorod residents have received the Bethlehem fire (PHOTO-REPORT)

According to a good tradition, the Bethlehem fire of peace was delivered to the townsmen by members of Uzhgorod Plast unit.

The ceremonial transfer of this symbol of holidays and peace took place in the main temple of the city – the Greek Catholic Holy Cross Cathedral. Uzhgorod residents took its warm light in their lamps and candles to their homes, where they are preparing for the holidays. You can take it now from the temple candle in the cathedral.

The pre-Christmas tradition of the transfer of the Bethlehem Fire of Peace was launched in 1986 by the Austrian Broadcasting Company ORF from the city of Linz. And immediately this noble cause was taken on by scouts. Every year, representatives of the ORF and the Austrian scouts take the Fire at the birthplace of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem, and then transport it by plane to Austria. After the celebrations in the Vienna Cathedral, the Fire is passed on to neighboring countries. Thus, the Bethlehem Fire crosses many borders and comes to all those, who are waiting for the light of warmth, peace, accord and hope, which travels from west to east, breaking the borders and uniting Christians on the eve of Christmas.

And at 16.00, the Bethlehem Fire will be brought to the parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin in Dravtsi.
