High school students were introduced to the church history of Uzhgorod (PHOTOS)

This week, another campaign for school excursions has launched in Uzhgorod. It was organized by Mukachevo Greek Catholic Eparchy, tourist information center "Transcarpathia", NGO "Uzhgorod is my city". Every day, tour guides introduce children to the history of buildings, which once housed the monastery of the Order of St. Basil the Great, Greek Catholic Theological and Teaching Seminary, known cultural and religious leaders of the region.

During the tour, the students also visited the Greek Catholic Holy Cross Cathedral and the bishop’s residence. The priests of the cathedral briefly told children the history of the diocese and conduct a little educational conversation.

In total, students of five Uzhgorod schools in – Uzhgorod economic lyceum, the "Intellect" lyceum, schools number 1, 2 and 5 – will take part in tours.

According to the head of the NGO "Uzhgorod is my city" Volodymyr Chubirko, the organization will continue organizing various leisure events for students and preschoolers of the city.
