High-profile robbery of a jewelry workshop in Uzhgorod: police have found the thief (PHOTOS)

The police detained the suspect in the case of the theft of jewelry worth more than 300 thousand hryvnias. He has now been placed in a temporary detention facility. The pre-trial investigation into the criminal proceedings is ongoing, the Communications department of the Transcarpathian regional police reported. 
In April this year, an unknown man robbed a jewelry workshop in Uzhgorod. The criminal tore off the outer metal lattice, broke the window and entered inside. According to the expert, the thief took out of the safe jewelry worth more than 314 thousand hryvnias. 
Investigators classified this crime under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, ie theft committed on a large scale. 
Uzhgorod criminal police officers were working to solve the crime. As a result, yesterday, September 16, operatives established the place where the criminal was hiding and detained him. 
The man is currently being held in a temporary detention center. Investigators have already appealed to the court to impose a pre-trial restraint on the suspect. 
According to the sanction of the article, the detainee faces imprisonment for a term of five to eight years. The case is under pre-trial investigation.
