Hidden danger: Can Christmas decorations cause harm?

All the wonderful decorations that you carefully take out of the box every year can contain toxic substances.
Certified or branded decorations may not contain lead, but if you have cheap toys purchased in unofficial stores or online, there is a risk that they may be toxic, the Healthline reports.
The study found that 13% of Christmas toys sold at major retail stores in shopping malls contained lead. In addition, its levels far exceeded the permissible threshold.
Most holiday decorations won’t hurt you, but if you have kids, some precautions should be taken:
Although lead cannot get inside the human body through skin contact, it can enter it through oral cavity.
The amount of toys and decorations with batteries is increasing and this is becoming a common danger for young children. The thing is that they can be swallowed easily, which can lead to internal burns, damage to the esophagus and stomach.
Observe the hygiene of the child’s hands after playing with the toy and always be aware of what the child puts in the mouth.
