Hetmanenko instructed to check facts of unjustified increase in prices for medicines and medical products

Many unscrupulous businessmen have unreasonably increased prices for their goods during the quarantine.

Oleksiy Hetmanenko stated that it is unacceptable to make money by exploiting the situation with the coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday, March 24, the acting head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksiy Hetmanenko met with the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Territorial Branch of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine Vitaliy Shalenyk. He instructed Vitaliy Shalenyk to monitor the pricing policy of pharmacies and grocery stores, to record cases of violations.

– Now the coronavirus has caused a great demand for essentials: antiseptics, protective masks, food. Unfortunately, some unscrupulous entrepreneurs have been tempted to raise prices for these products. So, we have to respond firmly to this in legal terms, to bring them to justice, – Oleksiy Hetmanenko said.

Vitaliy Shalenyk informed that the facts of unjustified increase in prices for medicines and hygiene items would be thoroughly looked into in the shortest possible time. The Antimonopoly Committee is monitoring the situation in the pharmaceutical markets and warns against unreasonable price increases. The same applies to other potential abuses, such as creating an artificial shortage of certain goods. For anti-competitive behavior in the market, the AMCU will impose fines of up to 10% of the offender’s annual turnover.
