American-Ukrainian project "TOUCH" (Take one Ukrainian child’s hand) has been successfully operating in Transcarpathia for 12 years. This was reported on Wednesday, September 25, at the meeting of the Association of Sister Cities Korvalis-Uzhgorod.
One of the most active founders of the "TOUCH" project Mrs. Alice Rempton noted that the main goal of this project is to mobilize the general public, to activate charity for children and young people who need help.
"The project has been ongoing for 12 years, and a large number of volunteers has joined it during this period. They work as translators, organizers, participants and presenters of various events, some are developing their own projects" – Mrs. Rempton said. During the period of cooperation, within the "TOUCH" project, the academic building of Chaslivtsi boarding school was refurbished and sewer and plumbing system was reconstructed. Also, they repaired all premises of the school number 14 – the school for Roma children, where they also arranged a library, purchased a bus to transport children of the "Way of Life" rehabilitation center.
