Prosecutor of Khust local prosecutor’s office proved a 28-year-old resident of Khust guilty of committing a series of thefts and breaking and entering (Part 1 of Article 162, Part 2, Part 3 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The man mostly stole jewelry and cash from private homes. He would break into the houses in various ways – breaking the front door, damaging windows, and also through the unlocked doors. In October 2018, while staying in a monastery, he stole gold rings, chains and earrings from one of the icons.
In total, the prosecutor proved the accused guilty of 7 crimes.
Taking into account all the evidence presented, the Khust District Court found the accused guilty as charged and sentenced him to 6 years’ imprisonment.
The accused is being detained without the possibility of bail.
The sentence is currently expected to enter into force.
