Havryliuk about owners of cars with foreign registration: “Checkpoint “Uzhgorod” is not a place for protests”

Transcarpathian regional prosecutor Volodymyr Havryliuk commented on the announced protest which is to be held on November 12 at the checkpoint "Uzhgorod" concerning cars with foreign registration.

He also answered whether the police had qualified the previuos protests, during which the traffic through the checkpoint was blocked. "The proceedings on the September blocking of the checkpoint are being investigated, nobody was notified of being suspected.  To do this, we must established the damage caused and the victims," – the prosecutor said.

As for the new protest, the situation is the following: there is an initiative group, which announces the protests. So we analyzed the legislation. It ensures the right of people to freely express their opinion. It is clear. But we think the chackpoint is no place for this. Because it affects the interests of other people, including foreigners and entrepreneurs.

Such protests at the checkpoint, in my opinion, are unacceptable. Moreover it should not take place given the escalating situation in the region, allegations of separatism, etc. – it is certainly not the place to express your opinions", – Volodymyr Havryliuk said.
