In Uzhgorod Press Club there was a press conference devoted to charity for homeless Transcarpathians, pensioners and children from poor families.
Fot more than two years, the volunteers of the charitable organization in Uzhgorod have been feeding over two hundred people, including 50-80 children, in 5 centers (currently, they have given approximately 13,000 meals). In addition, professionals help people to recover both physically and mentally.
Robert Horniak, the chairman of the NGO "Bakhtale Roma – Happy Gypsies", Olena Horniak, the Deputy Chairman and members of the NGO Oleksandr Laczkó, Stepan Fecho. told journalists about charitable projects and future plans
According to Olena Horniak, the organization "Happy Gypsies" together with other foundations feeds homeless and older people and children from disadvantaged families.
Robert Horniak said: "Our goal is not just to feed people but to provide them with the necessary assistance. We saw a particular problem in the city and see that we can help. People supported us. One of the participants of the project, for example, for six months was feeding people at his own expense."
Also Olena Horniak said that the organization entered into agreements with Kyiv rehabilitation centers where Transcarpathians can get rid of addiction.
Stepan Fecho noted that in addition to feeding, the organization representatives also conduct interviews with Roma families, convince mothers to encourage children to attend school.
NGO "Happy Gypsies" hopes that next year, the money for charity meals will be provided for in the budget and would like to thank the local government and the shopping center "Dastor" and its shoppers for the campaign, where Uzhgorod residents help to collect food to cook meals. Olena Horniak thanked the bakery "Klim-Khlib" for the bread and noted the contribution of volunteers.
