These two beautiful porcini mushrooms were found on weekends by an avid mushroom hunter pensioner Petro Shtefanyo from Irshava. He also revealed the place – the forest near the village of Siltse in Irshava district. He admitted that he had found the mushrooms by chance in the bush.
Mr. Petro argues that the size of mushrooms is not the result of radiation exposure (as is often believed), but only… exposure to heat and sun. Mushrooms were growing and "waiting" until they are found. The pensioner admits that he had never found mushrooms of such size during his long mushroom hunting "career". The porcini were the only trophies in the entire trip.
At home they measured the mushrooms. One was 21 cm in length, diameter of the stem was 10 cm and of the cap – 21 cm. Instead, the second one was a little "higher" – 24 cm (6 cm and 17 cm, respectively). However, they could not weigh them because they did not have scales at hand. Forest trophies were cut and dried.
