During the major repair of Mozhaisky street in Uzhgorod, they are using a geogrid – modern high-tech material, which is a cellular grid made of polyethylene tapes.
Such method is widely used during repairs or construction of roads in all European countries, – the department of municipal economy of Uzhgorod city council reported.
Part of the street – from Mynaiska street to 8 Bereznya street – was almost impassable due to soil oversaturation with water. When the work began, they found old pressure sewage system pipes, which were leaking through cracks. In order to solve the problem, the old water supply lines were replaced, a new storm water drain and rainwater collectors were installed. Also, they decided to install geogrid that will reinforce the road surface, because many heavy vehicles drive on this street.
