The funeral of the legend of Transcarpathian culture, People’s Artist of Ukraine Klara Balog will be held on Tuesday, June 12, at 13.00.
The service will begin at 13.30 in Uzhgorod Greek Catholic Cathedral.
Recall that People’s Artist of Ukraine, the legend of Transcarpathia, the choreographer of the Honored Transcarpathian Folk Choir, Klara Balog, passed away on June 9.
The repertoire of Klara Balog includes more than thirty choreographic productions. She has found, studied and recorded the dance art of representatives of many nationalities – Ukrainians, Hungarians, Russians, Romanians, Slovaks, Germans and others. In collaboration with local composers, Klara Balog produced a whole range of modern vocal and choreographic compositions with widespread use of folk choreography and music.
All social activities of Klara Balog were aimed at protecting and enriching the spiritual heritage of the people. She was repeatedly elected a deputy of the Regional Council and was a member of the presidium of the regional branch of the "Ukraine" Association, a member of the jury and one of the active organizers of many festivals, contests and other art events. In 1957, Klara Balog was awarded the honorary title of the Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR, in 1960 she was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, in 1974 she was awarded the title of People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR, and in 1996 she received the Honorary Diploma of the President of Ukraine.
