From investment policy to a sudden hail: the second meeting of Transcarpathian schoolchildren with People’s Deputy Robert Horvat

When we reported about the trip of a group of Transcarpathian students to the Verkhovna Rada, we also said that the participants had a lot of questions to People’s Deputy Robert Horvat related to the functioning of state mechanisms, the nuances of political life, the work of people’s deputies, etc.

Therefore, it was decided to meet again, this time in Transcarpathia, and in an informal setting – in the format of an outdoor picnic. 

And last Sunday, the long-awaited meeting finally took place!

The location was a lawn near the village of Lumshory. They came from Uzhgorod by bus.

Then they had to walk for a while. It was interesting to see how sincerely happy the children were to meet each other again after the last trip.

They stopped near the Davir waterfall. The place is popular, picturesque and very attractive for tourists. First, there was a picnic and conversation. The children were asking Robert Horvat about a number of topics: how decisions are adopted, why reforms are stalled, about the complicated relations between law-making and executive authorities, especially at the local level, about the "feedback" between deputies and voters. There were no taboo topics, the children received sincere answers to all questions.

But this time they gathered not for a lecture. A picnic is a picnic. Barbecue, baked potatoes and vegetables, other food.

Those, who wanted, could dip in the cool waters of the Turychka, which was especially refreshing in the heat.

They played volleyball…

…and, of course, "mafia" – a psychological game that is perfect for team-building.

But the party ended unexpectedly – with a sudden shower and heavy hail. The children were hiding wherever they could – under the trees, mats, deck chairs.

Did you know that the interior of an old wagon car can easily accommodate 14 people?

Everyone was soaking wet, so an additional, unplanned activity was added – those, who were cold, got warmed up in the legendary Lumshory vats.

So, the second meeting of the friendly company of Transcarpathian students was fun, interesting, educational and with adventures.  And it seems it was not the last one – in the bus, on the way back, the children were already making arrangements for their next meeting. Friendship is above all!
