This beautiful pre-Christmas tradition – to distribute the Bethlehem Fire of Peace – was launched in 1986 by the Austrian Broadcasting Company ORF from the city of Linz. And immediately this noble cause was taken on by scouts. Every year, representatives of the ORF and the Austrian scouts take the Fire at the birthplace of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem, and then transport it by plane to Austria. After the celebrations in the Vienna Cathedral, the Fire is passed on to neighboring countries. Thus, the Bethlehem Fire crosses many borders and comes to all those, who are waiting for the light of warmth, peace, accord and hope, which travels from west to east, breaking the borders and uniting Christians on the eve of Christmas.

In addition, at 16.00, the Bethlehem Fire will be brought to the parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin (Dravtsi neighbourhood)
