Unidentified persons, in a fraudulent way, cheated a 50-year-old resident of Uzhgorod out of 4,000 USD, telling him about a made-up accident with victims involving his son.
The scammers called the mother of the victim and reported that her grandson had gotten into a terrible accident and needed money for emergency health care. The man gave a taxi driver 4,000 dollars and only then phoned his son. He said that he was fine.
The deceived citizens called the police and reported that they remembered numbers of the taxi’s license plate – "6236".
The police once again appeals to the citizens with a request to be extremely cautious about financial affairs with unknown persons. In all cases concerning money, bank accounts and credit cards, it is better to be safe and double check the information provided. In all cases, that raise doubts, contact law enforcement immediately by calling "102".
