The Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment against the former head of the "Uzhgorod" International Airport, the director of a contracting firm and technical engineer. Those persons were involved in the reconstruction of the airport’s infrastructure.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the defendants, having previously conspired with each other, made changes to the documentation on the reconstruction of the airport fence. They overestimated the amount of work performed and the cost of construction materials used.
According to the tender, the total cost of the work was more than 7 million hryvnias, and the losses caused by the actions of the officials, according to experts, amount to more than 910 thousand hryvnias.
Thus, the acting head of the airport and the director of the contractor are accused, respectively, of embezzlement and misappropriation of funds in a particularly large amount and forgery committed by a group of persons (Part 5 of Article 191, Part 2 of Artical 28 – Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The actions of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration technical engineer are classified as accessory in embezzlement of budget funds and official forgery of documents committed by a group of persons (Part 5 of Article 27 – Part 5 of Article 191, Part 5 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the National Police in Transcarpathian region under the procedural control of prosecutors of the Transcarpathian regional prosecutor’s office.
