Foresters of Uzhgorod district detained the thieves of “Shakhta oaks”

Officers of the state forest protection stopped the felling of trees in the "Shakhta" neighbourhood thanks to the report of public activists.

When all the staff of the state forest protection were at the meeting of the annual board, foresters of Uzhgorod district received from concerned citizens the information that near Uzhgorod unknown persons were cutting oak trees and loading them into a crossover "SsangYong".

Forest protection officers were immediately sent at the scene and caught the perpetrator red-handed. At the time of the detention, he had cut several oak trees. The offender brazenly drove to the forest in the middle of the day and cut dead oaks. The offender committed an unlawful felling of the oak in the 11th quarter of Uzhgorod Forestry (near the "Shakhta" neighbourhood). The amount of damage and the volume of the cut wood are being established. Details will be reported later.
