Employees of the State Enterprise "Perechyn forestry" observe a massive withering in the forests of beech, spruce and ash. The worst thing is that no one can determine the cause of the problem, although extensive and numerous studies have been conducted. Many linked the outbreak of the epidemic to large-scale droughts, fires and pests (tinder). But this pest plays rather a secondary role as they affect already weakened trees. Our scientists agree that the state of forests is affected by climate change. Special impact is caused by drought. Now the largest area of damaged trees is observed in the territory where abnormally high temperature was recorded.
The director of the "Perechyn forestry" Yaroslav Kopolovets notes that in order to preserve the forest they have to clear it as often as possible, namely to carry out selective sanitary felling and planting of new trees.
This year it is planned to carry out sanitary selective logging over the total area of 750 square meters in the forest lands of Perechyn district. However, in order to perform this work, they need to obtain a number of permits and approvals from the local community. To avoid any doubts about the reasons for cutting, the forestry director Yaroslav Kopolovets showed the reporters the causes for logging and in the course of sanitary felling will be providing to the press supporting documents – permissions for allocated logging plots.
Recall that recently, a catastrophic demise of fir trees was recorded in Rakhiv district.
