For the first time, the Open Tour took place in the administrative building of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration (PHOTOS)

At the initiative of the "Uzhgorod open tours" project (this volunteer educational project started in the autumn of 2012 from the Halahov neighbourhood) and with the support of the head of the Regional State Administration Vasyl Hubal and the Regional Council Chairman Volodymyr Chubirko, on Sunday, March 29, Uzhgorod residents and guests visited the administrative building of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.

The guide Orest Kohut told about the dominant building of not only Narodna Square, but of the "Czech" quarter (Halahov neighborhood), in general, and one of the noblest buildings in the regional center. The elegant building in the style of functionalism, which is an architectural monument, was erected as an administrative building and opened in 1936. In the time that has passed, the building has undergone minimal changes and interventions.

The guide Orest Kohut also told about architectural features, designs, finishes and many other interesting things associated with the uniqueness of the building.

Then, the visitors were shown the session and the small meeting rooms and told about the specific arrangement of rooms and about other features of the building, which was designed and built as administrative building. The visitors also saw the gallery of portraits of the heads of the region and learned about interesting things related to them – for example, that the head of the region in 1938 Andriy Brovdi was managing only for two weeks, as he was exposed as a foreign spy, and so on.

The participants of the tour also visited the "governor’s wing" – part of the third floor, where the head of the RSA holds meetings. They also reviewed recently updated collection of pictures.

During the open tour, visitors also saw the meeting hall of the head of the RSA – the room where the most important issues are considered, and the fireplace hall, where traditionally the highest official, and also foreign delegations are received. By the way, the design of these rooms has not changed over the years, there is authentic furniture of the Czech period there, and one of the few valuable paintings that have remained in the RSA – "Rafters" by Yosyp Bokshay.

By the way, it was the first time the administrative building of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration received such a tour. Before that, only representatives of official, mostly foreign delegations could see the building and hear brief stories about its uniqueness, thus, once it was shown to Czech architecture students who were interested to see the work of their fellow peers. And last Sunday, the Open tour was attended by about 70 people, who noted that they even had not expected that the tour would be so interesting.
