On Thursday March 23, the presidential bill №6175 on the so-called "dual citizenship", which has stirred the public, will be considered in the Parliament, the Mukachevo.net informs.
It seems that Poroshenko listened to vox populi and changed the wording: for now, only officials will be punished for dual citizenship. They can be deprived of not only job position, but also Ukrainian passport.
Yesterday, the Parliament Speaker Andriy Parubiy instructed the Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and International Relations to urgently consider the bill №6175, so that it can be passed on the meeting on Thursday.
– We have found a compromise wording, which gives reason to believe that it will be supported by the deputies – Parubiy said at the meeting of the Rada.
According to him, the President Poroshenko agreed "that officials, civil servants shall not have passport of any country other than Ukraine, and may be deprived [of citizenship]."
Parubiy reminded that "Ukrainian secret services, Ukrainian army were headed by people with Russian passports, which led to the collapse of the Ukrainian army and the Russian aggression."
Dual citizenship of an official is a violation of Art. 19 of the Law of Ukraine "On civil service".
