At 16:40, on December 15, rescuers of Transcarpathia received a report that a man and a woman had gotten lost in fog while skiing around the Krachunyaska valley of Rakhiv district. Both are residents of the city of Kyiv born in 1984 and 1995. Rescuers of Yasinya mountain search and rescue department were sent to help them. At 20:30, the tourists were found alive and well.
On the way back, the mountain rescue workers heard screams for help from other tourists, who, as it turned out later, also had gotten lost in fog. Those were two men, also residents of the city of Kyiv born in 1997 and 2000. Due to the absence of mobile phone signal in the area, the skiers were unable to phone rescuers.
Some time later, the mountain rescue officers heard another voice from the fog. As it turned out, it was a resident of the city of Vinnytsia born in 1974, who also was skiing and had gotten lost.
All the rescued skiers were accompanied to a safe place where they continued their vacation in the Carpathians.
Rescuers of Transcarpathia once again call on mountain recreation enthusiasts to adhere to the rules of recreation in the mountains and not to endanger themselves.
