Five hundred Jews and musketeer Athos will come to Uzhgorod

All-Ukrainian Conference “Limud” will be held in Uzhgorod this autumn, on November 1-4. Its organizers explained to reporters what kind of event it is and who can take part in it. In particular, the executive director of Limud FSU Roman Kogan said that Limud, as a unique event that combines education, communication and celebration, was first held in England in 1978 and nowadays takes place in 60 countries. In Ukraine, the events under this brand have been held already 6 years. This year’s Limud will first take place in Uzhgorod, a rich city with Jewish culture.

The initiator of the event in the regional center of Transcarpathia is Mikhail Galin, executive director of the charity fund "Hesed Shpira" and chairman of the regional Progressive Judaism community. He is confident that Limud will be a real treat for Uzhgorod, because it will bring together more than 500 Jews from Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic and France. The Smekhovs will be star guests of the event – Athos from the movie “Three Musketeers”, Smekhov Veniamin, his daughters – actress Alica Smekhova and writer Elena Smekhova, and even his grandchildren. Also Ukrainian Limud in Uzhgorod will be attended by many famous politicians, including some of the ministers of Israel, officials from the United States, as well as eminent businessmen, public figures and journalists from around the world. They will participate in various lectures, workshops, discussions, exhibitions and concerts.

Everybody regardless of age, creed and social position will be able to take part in the event, which will be held in the hotel "Intourist Transcarpathia". Participation in Limud is traditionally paid, the details will be available later on the site www.limmud.org.ua.
