Fatal accident: A 66-year-old woman killed herself due to negligence

The police have begun an investigation over a domestic accident that occurred in the village of Pidhirne in Irshava district. Legal classification has been determined.
According to the Transcarpathian regional police, on January 12 at 4:45 pm, the police received a report from a doctor of the local medical institution that a 66-year-old resident of the village of Pidhirne had died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.
At the scene, the police found out that the pensioner had sustained injuries in the form of a stab wound to her neck, as a result of falling from a log in the storage room while holding a knife.
The police opened criminal proceedings over the death of the woman under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the note “accident”.
Law enforcement officers interviewed relatives of the victim. Preliminarily, no element of crime was found in the incident. During the examination of the victim’s body, the forensic expert concluded that she could have suffered the above mentioned wound due to negligence.
The body was sent to the morgue of the Irshava District Hospital. The case is under investigation.
