Famous Transcarpathian Vasyl Skakandiy has passed away

The famous Transcarpathian, People’s Artist of Ukraine, Vasyl Skakandiy, has passed away 
Vasyl Skakandiy was born on March 4, 1941 in the village of Serednye, Uzhgorod district.
In 1965 he graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts of the Kyiv State Art Institute (now the National Academy of Fine Arts).
He was a portrait painter and graphic artist. He made a series of beautiful watercolor works.
For a long time he worked as a teacher at the Art College and then the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts.
In 1990 he became Honored Artist of the USSR, and in 2007 – People’s Artist of Ukraine.
Vasyl Skakandiy’s death is a great loss for our country. Our hearts are with his family and friends.
