Fallen Transcarpathian Heroes were honored with state awards

Yesterday, May 15, the President awarded 220 soldiers who were killed in the Donbass. Among them, there are Transcarpathian soldiers of the Heaven’s Battalion (decree number 270/2015).

As reported on the official website of the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko awarded 220 military and law enforcement officers (posthumously) who served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and bodies and units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The President signed the corresponding decree on May 15.

All recipient of the awards died while fighting militants in the area of the antiterrorist operation between autumn 2014 and spring 2015, including the battles near Donetsk, Avdiyivka, Debaltseve.

201 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were awarded posthumously, including 36 persons – with the Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky of the III degree, 164 persons – with the Order "For courage" of the III degree, 1 soldier – with the Order of Daniel Galician. Another 19 victims, who served in the bodies and units of the MIA, received the Order "For courage" of the III degree.

Among the awarded Heroes, there are Transcarpathians. Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky of the III degree (posthumously) was awarded to Vasyl Bilak (Lieutenant), Oleksiy Hurtov (Major), Vitaliy Postolaki (Major) Oleksandr Shimon (Senior Lieutenant). Order "For courage" of the III degree (posthumously) was awarded to Vasyl Nalyvaiko (soldier), Andriy Palay (soldier), Oleg Rehotun (senior lieutenant), Roman Sovlych (soldier), Yuriy Sokolachko (soldier), Serhiy Khivrich (senior sergeant, who served in Transcarpathia, a native of Ivano-Frankivsk region), Roman Chornobay (sergeant, who served in Transcarpathia, a native of Lviv region), Oleksandr Shevtsov (soldier, who served in Transcarpathia, a native of Cherkasy region).

Recall on the Remebrance Day, in the lobby of the RSA, Transcarpathians, who were killed in the ATO area, were posthumously awarded with state decorations.

Mykhailo Tymoshchuk, Mykola Budz, Stanislav Kish, Vitaliy Hoponko and Pavlo Stets were awarded. 

Appreciate the living Heroes and do not forget the fallen Heroes… Because it is not official ranks and medals that have value…
